IM Gluckman is Rapid King for February

International Master David Gluckman won the February Rapid tournament hosted by African Chess lounge this past Saturday. The event is the first of a chain of monthly one day rapid tournaments to take place in Cape Town organised by Mr. Reuben Salimu, founder of
ACL and
Athena Chess Club.

It was all too easy for David after beating FM Charles de Villiers in the penultimate round having only to take a draw in the final game for the title.
De Villiers finished in 2nd place with CM Lyndon Bouah, Kenny Willenberg & Reuben Salimu ending joint 3rd. Top lady for the day was
WIM Denise Frick and best junior went to
Abdul Wahaab Barday. The players hardly broke a sweat and wanted more but will have to wait untill the next event in March. It seems that there is a great hunger for rapid (one-day) tournaments in Cape Town. Lets hope that this can continue.
